There's not much left to say about Leylah Annie Fernandez on her incredible run to the semi-finals of the U.S. Open. But the guys know she'll continue writing her story, and they'll continue to live for it.
Stealing the show, and the hearts of the New York crowd and fans world wide, the guys reflect on their interview with Leylah Fernandez back in April as they go through the highlights of her amazing run in defeating two former U.S. Open champions and three consecutive wins against Top 20 players including Osaka, Kerber and Svitolina. With Sabalenka up next, can Leylah's dream run bring her to the title and her goal of being Top 10 by year's end?
Aldwin & Jason review all the stories from this year's exceptional tournament. From Emma Raducanu's second straight run at a slam to Carlos Alcaraz, the third of this trio of 18 year olds making a deep run, who post-recording of this episode would unfortunately retire in his quarter-final due to injury.
Sticking with Canada, it would be FAA benefiting from that Alcarez's retirement to secure his first slam semi against Daniil Medvedev, with the guys conflicted in their choice in the top half of the draw. Will a young gun like Berretini or even Lloyd Harris make it deep, or can Zverev continue his summer winning ways?
Lest we forget the guy to beat: Novak Djokovic... just three wins away from the calendar grand slam, and slam #21!
With new stars emerging, the guys wonder if everyone is ready for this new guard, or still clamouring for the injured greats of the sport. They already have their answer.

Wrapped in a nice lil' bow just in time for the start of day one of the year's final grand slam. You're welcome!
You know the drill. Aldwin & Jason break down the draw, put their odds on who will go deep, and make their picks for who will take the title on both the Men's and Women's side. Aldwin perhaps makes the most daring of picks. With Serena out with injury, which American does he pick to take the women's trophy? Is Jason more true to the seeding?
With no line judges at this year's Open, Djokovic may in fact be the odds on favourite to achieve the calendar slam. But do either Aldwin or Jason think he'll get there?
The guys also share some of their favourite matches and moments from past U.S. Open events.

The Western & Southern Open is in the books, and its champions Ashleigh Barty and Sascha Zverev are poised to make deep runs as among the favourites heading into next week's U.S. Open.
In the early days of this podcast, the guys forgot who was the #1 player in the world on the ladies side... Ash is making the guys eat their word, with Aldwin and Jason discussing whether she is starting her own era of dominance the likes of former greats like Seles, Graf and Hingis. With the beauty of her play and ease of victories this week, would you agree, or is it still too soon to compare her to such tennis legends?
For the first time in nine years the top for seeds make a Masters 1,000 semi final on the men's side... and none of them are the big three. The guys reflect on this new era and the exciting transitional period we're seeing in men's tennis.
Of course, Aldwin and Jason discuss Aldwin's ex's (Tsitsipas for new listeners) propensity for mid-match potty breaks, which was called out by Zverev in their semi-final encounter. The guys witnessed this in Toronto last week in matches against both Humbert and Ruud.
Jason starts the show by inviting a therapy session on his recent poor on court play... against the opponent (and doubles partner) who has his number, as the guys head into their first GLTA tournament in two years in Montreal over Labour Day Weekend.

Tennis' second oldest professional event comes to a close with one surprise winner in Camila Giorgi, and one less surprising in Daniil Medvedev.
The guys reflect on the return of live tennis to Canada and their experiences at the event in Toronto. What's up with Aldwin's voice after his trip to cheer on Giorgi in Montreal? Jason attends a session per day with the exception of the final and the guys sign-making skills garner them some screen time TennisTV and SportsNet. Being on site decked with Ready Play Tennis Podcast shirts and masks afforded the opportunity to meet some listeners who recognized the show. That 'merch' may be coming soon!
Aldwin and Jason review the stories that came out of this year's National Bank Open, from Giorgi's triumph, Opelka's emergence as one to watch, a wonderful Rebecca Marino moment and the lacklustre results of the rest of the Canadian contingent.

Tennis returns to Canada and it arrives with a new name!
The National Bank Open (NBO), tennis' 2nd older tournament (behind Wimbledon) brings the ATP Tour to Toronto, while the WTA takes over Montreal.
The guys share some NBO memories, assess the draws and the chances of the eight Canadians in the draw, including Canadian wildcard Rebecca Marino.
All eyes are on Canada's top seeds Bianca Andreescu who arrives after 728 days (who's counting) as the defending champion, and Denis Shapovalov looking to relive and surpass the magic of his semi-final run in 2017. Felix, Vasek and Brayden Schnur cap off Canadian hopefuls on the men's side, with Carol Zhao and Aldwin & Jason's girl Leylah Annie Fernandez heading towards a potential second round encounter with Bibi.
Will Bianca regain her form on home turf ahead of the U.S. Open? Will Denis or Felix make a deep run? Or will it be another former semi-finalist Vasek Pospisil.
Either way, the guys look forward to make fools of themselves at the tournament this week, and are hoping for a Kyrgios-Nadal third round match!

Tennis at the Tokyo Olympics is in the books, and the biggest story was perhaps not Djokovic being unsuccessful in his quest for the Golden Slam... but how it devolved.
An interview after his third round victory where he was asked about his handling of pressure in light of Simone Biles withdrawal from multiple gymnastics events led to a traditional media and social media hate barrage. It was only further amplified by his less than sportsmanlike conduct on court in his two consecutive loses, leaving him without a medal in singles... oh, and denying his mixed doubles partner Nina Stojanovic a medal after withdrawing from the bronze medal match, citing a shoulder injury.
With Djokovic's comments seemingly taken out of context, is the hate warranted, or is this the umpteenth sequel with the same loathed villain that feels good to non-Djoko fans?
The guys unpack all of it, and celebrate the Olympic champions, medalists and other highlights from Tokyo 2020.

Aldwin and Jason are trying very hard to get into the Olympic spirit, but those matches have proven very very hard to find!
The guys review the heated action so far... so hot, it's got top seeds Djokovic and Medvedev on literal fire due to the scorching Tokyo temperatures.
Upsets abound on the ladies side, as Wimbledon Champ Ash Barty and Olympic torch bearer Naomi Osaka fall early. With Swiatek, Pliskova and Sabalenka following them out the door, the newly married Elina Svitolina is the only one left among the top eight... and is looking hungry and motivated. But it may be Garbine Muguruza's moment to shine.
On the men's side, the top seeds stand firm. Who will snatch that gold? It remains Djoko's to lose, with the 'Golden Slam' still in tact.
The guys review the cute country pairings in doubles at the Olympics, and reveal three first time tour winners from this past week... and another title for Casper Ruud.

Osaka & Djoko Gear Up For Tokyo
Wednesday Jul 21, 2021
Wednesday Jul 21, 2021
On the eve of the delayed 2020 Tokyo Olympics, what seemed less than exciting initially after players like Azarenka, Andreescu, Shapo and others withdrew has shaped-up to be a who's who as the 16 seeds on both the Men's and Women's side are revealed.
Top seeds Novak Djokovic and Ash Barty come in as heavy favourite (one of which is going for that 'Golden Slam'), but all eyes will be on a returning Naomi Osaka. After a two-month hiatus from the sport for a mental health break, Osaka has been everywhere, including covers of Time, Vogue and Sports Illustrated's Swimsuit issue, as well as a three-part Netflix docuseries. The guys discuss the timing of these projects in light of her desire to take a break from media engagement at tournaments. Is there a disconnect here?
The guys review the storylines from the 800 post Wimbledon tourneys (only six actually) and discuss Tsitsipas' taking to Twitter, claiming that coaching should be allowed on every point during matches... of course, Nick Kyrgios weighed in.

"The last 10 years have been an incredible journey. It's not stopping here." - Novak Djokovic
And the stats don't lie. Novak Djokovic remains dominant against the field, defeating the second best player of this fortnight, a game Matteo Berrettini, to take his sixth Wimbledon title and ties both Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal with 20 grand slams each. It is truly an era of men's tennis that will never be repeated.
